Edgarley Assisted Living has developed and implemented a palliative care team for the management of a resident’s end of life wishes. The management is encompassing and respects the resident’s wishes, cultural aspects, spiritual considerations and families.
Edgarley Assisted Living does not use a palliative room and believes the residents current accommodation is their home and respects their wish to die in their home. We place the extra services in to the resident’s room and ensure there is a staff member with them at all times until their passing, respecting the family rights to privacy. Families are supported throughout this time and encouraged to be involved. Overnight accommodation can be made available in their loved ones room if required.

Edgarley Assisted Living encourages all new residents and their family to complete an Advanced Care Plan to put in place the wishes of the resident to enable Edgarley Assisted Living to effectively manage the end of life of the resident.
Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problem associated with life-threatening illness.
The approach is through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification, assessment and treatment of pain and associated problems eg physical, psychological and spiritual.
Edgarley Assisted Living goals are to:

Respect the residents rights, wants, wishes, desires and needs during this time.
